They last a really long time so if i don' t eat them on my present trip i know they' ll still be good next time i go backpacking. I can drink my regular water or none at all. Most taste like saw dust and leave you dying of thirst.
Tried many of the food bars that last forever. Not very filling, but will definitely hold you over till your next meal They feel hard, but break easily and have the texture of a cookie when chewed. These are very good tasting and easy to eat. These are similar but have an edge with the added flavor/essence. The bonus of the added flavor (i tried the blueberry and raspberry) made these a notch above the regualr plain bars. Much like the survival boat rations these bars are easy to eat and get down.
